“Stories of Riga’s Parks” is an educational adventure where a walk through the park becomes a journey through time. Guided by a specialist from “Riga Forests”, students explore one of Riga’s historic parks – Vērmanes Garden, Ziedoņi Garden, Kronvalda Park, Arkādija Park or the Esplanade.
Working in teams and using a map created by an artist, students discover hidden corners of the park and listen to stories that bring its trees, fountains and cultural heritage to life. Along the way, they take on a variety of fun challenges: reading mirror writing, identifying tree leaves and learning more about the park’s natural and cultural treasures.
Each park has its own unique story of trees and is connected with a notable Latvian cultural figure, including Rainis, Aleksandrs Čaks, Ojārs Vācietis, Atis Kronvalds and Krišjānis Barons.
The adventure concludes with a creative team activity in which students design their ideal park. Through play, exploration and discovery, they learn how nature, culture and people come together to shape the green spaces of our cities. 🌳✨
