Norway organizes plant sale and a huge citizen-engagement-experiment in Urban agriculture for FoPD2020

-

In Norway, FoPD 2020 consisted of a small plant sale from the national coordinator’s home garden. It was organized since students moved some of their plant propagation activities – from which they usually sell plants in aid of charity.

Moreover a huge citizen-engagement-experiment in Urban agriculture was launched and is ongoing all summer. 102 volunteers were recruited to grow tomato in self-watering containers and compare peat based soil from a garden center of their own choice with garden/household waste compost from a start-up company in Norway.

The aim is to see whether tomato can be grown in this compost and if people get as much yield compared to the horticultural peat they usually use.
