A wide range of events take place globally over the next 10 days as part of Fascination of Plants Day


As we head into May next week and the official celebration of Fascination of Plants Day on 18th May 2024 draws ever nearer, an impressive array of #plantday events is set to unfold over the next 10 days, offering a glimpse into the diverse and captivating world of plants. Enthusiasts and plant lovers worldwide are invited to embark on a journey of discovery, immersing themselves in a series of engaging activities that celebrate the wonders of plant life. 🌵Taking place from today through to the 29th April, the Graphic Contest entitled “The plants of the semi-desert in Queretaro” at ENES UNAM Juriquilla, Mexico, invites participants to showcase the beauty and resilience of plants thriving in arid landscapes.

🌿Meanwhile, today (25th April) at the Lebanese American University – Byblos Campus, a thought-provoking session titled “Insights Into Global Threats to Plant Biodiversity” aims to shed light on the challenges facing plants.

🧑‍🔬Tomorrow (26th April) in Spain’s Centro de Investigación y Tecnología Agroalimentaria de Aragón (CITA) in Zaragoza presents “BIODIVERSA en el Día de la Fascinación de las Plantas,” highlighting the rich biodiversity of plants.

🪈In Zrenjanin, Serbia, the Okupirajmo Plankov park hosts a concert entitled “The sounds of a flute,” immersing attendees in the harmonies inspired by nature.

🌲Italy remains a hotspot for FoPD events with Turin welcoming enthusiasts to explore “The shoots of the giant bamboo” on Saturday 27th April as part of the Giornata Internazionale del Fascino delle Piante 2024. Sanremo also joins the celebration with “Plants go Green!”.

🌷On Sunday 28th April, Switzerland’s Botanischer Garten der Universität Zürich invites visitors to its “Spring festival,” celebrating native balcony and garden plants, while France’s LPO refuge biodiversity visit in Vacquières offers a unique opportunity to delve into local conservation efforts.

🌼On Friday 3rd May, Ukraine holds an excursion exploring “Relict favorites of modern gardens” in the Magnolia Garden, showcasing timeless botanical treasures. In Italy you can undertake a botanical excursion on Mount Virgo in the Campania region, inviting participants to uncover the region’s rich plant diversity.

🌹On Saturday 4th May in Italy, the Marine Protected Area of Cerrano Tower showcases the “Flora of Marine Protected Area of Cerrano Tower” in Pineto, offering insights into coastal ecosystems. Finally, the Orto Botanico dell’Università di Pavia in Italy hosts the “Rose Garden Festival,” where the timeless beauty and fragrance of roses take centre stage.
