This year, the National Botanical Garden celebrates an important milestone—its 70th anniversary! Join us on Saturday, 5 September, for the jubilee celebration “Joy Grows in the Garden!”
The celebration will bring together a rich programme of nature discovery, education, creativity, plants, music, and community spirit, with activities for visitors of all ages.
🌳 A special anniversary programme
The official celebration will include the planting of a 70th-anniversary tree and the opening of the exhibition “NBD Through the Ages,” offering visitors a glimpse into the Garden’s history and development.
The day will also feature an autumn plant market, where visitors can purchase fruit trees, berry bushes, perennials, and other plants suitable for the garden.

Throughout the day, the National Botanical Garden, its partners, and friends will offer interactive educational activities under the theme “Joy Grows in the Garden!”
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore fascinating stories about plants, wildlife, fungi, and biodiversity through workshops, exhibitions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
Experts from the Nature Conservation Agency and the LatViaNature project, State Plant Protection Service, Latvian Ornithological Society, Latvian Botanical Society, Latvian Mycological Society, Salaspils municipality institutions, and other partners will help bring the natural world to life.

By taking part in several activities, visitors will have the opportunity to win prizes, including the chance to join nature trails with wildlife rangers from the Nature Conservation Agency and participate in future educational events.
🎶 Workshops, exhibitions, activities, and special events will take place throughout the day, creating a festive atmosphere for everyone.
And the best part? Admission to the National Botanical Garden is free for all visitors on the day of the celebration.
