Європейська організація біології рослин (European Plant Science Organisation, EPSO) спільно із більш ніж 60 Національними Координаторами по всьому світу із гордістю анонсують VII Міжнародний День Рослин (Fascination of Plants Day, FoPD), який офіційно буде відзначатись 18 травня 2024, але різні події, присвячені Дню рослин, можна буде відвідати і в інші дати. Запрошуємо людей усіх вікових категорій приєднатись до святкування FoPD та взяти участь у захоплюючих інтерактивних подіях та заходах, присвячених рослинам, які буде організовано науковими установами, університетами, ботанічними садами, музеями, школами, фермерами та компаніями по всьому світу.
День Рослин (FoPD) – це подія, що відзначається один раз на 2 роки, започаткована Європейською організацією Біології Рослин (EPSO) з метою популяризації та висвітлення важливості різних галузей науки про рослини для вирішення глобальних викликів сьогодення. З 2012 року FoPD перетворився на глобальний рух, який залучає спільноти по всьому світу до заходів, що сприяють підвищенню обізнаності та розумінню виняткової важливості різноманітного світу рослин.

The ERA- Net SusCrop is launching a video contest to actively involve EVERYBODY from across the world to reflect, communicate and inspire on ‘what sustainable crop production means to you?’.
The competition is open to EVERYBODY and is supposed to activate multiple groups: school children, students, scientists, farmers/farmer-groups, and any person/group of random enthusiasts, artists (film, circus, music, digital/installation art, …), architects, social media/communication workers, etc.

However, we invite any kind of video: be original, think out-of-the-box! What does sustainability in the area of crop production mean to you? How should agriculture look like in the future? Do you practice sustainability procedures in growing crops or ornamental plants in your environment (e.g. your garden or balcony)?

This lecture is dedicated to the review of modern approaches to the defense of vegetable crops such as tomato and potato against bacterial, fungal and viral diseases. The most common diseases, the favorable conditions for their appearance and the life cycles of their causatives, and also the mechanisms of the plant natural defense against phytopathogens will be reviewed, as well as the strategies of plant protection from prophylactic measures such as mechanical treatment, to the disease diagnostic techniques, the modern fungicide classification and the principles of the creation of the resistant cultivars with the use of novel modern biotechnological approaches, for example, genetic engineering, marker-associated breeding or the use of biopreparations based on the favorable soil bacteria.

The lecture is devoted to the aquatic plants of Kyiv as a biotope component of aquatic ecosystems, in particular, for the existence of aquatic animals. The ecological groups of aquatic plants, the features of their distribution in water bodies, their relationship with the ichthyofauna and water birds are considered. The ecological groups of fish and birds that use aquatic plants as food grounds and places for feeding and spawning are analyzed. The issues of conservation of species diversity of fish and birds with the help of aquatic plants will also be considered.

The event aims to disseminate information on current advances in plant biotechnology to the general public. The lecture will provide basic theoretical information and practical recommendations for the introduction of indoor citrus varieties to the culture, their microclonal propagation, soil adaptation and further care

May 6-7 th, 2022 – The State Dendrological Park «Olexandria», NAS of Ukraine invites you to the “Blooming Alexandria” guided tour cycle. One of the May symbols – is LILAC, which you admire for 2-4 weeks, and next 11 months you look forward to meeting him again.
The guided tours are purposed to meet everyone who wants with the open exposition of the «Olexandria» dendrological park, NAS of Ukraine – “Syringarium” (0.4 ha area), where varieties of all color groups are collected and to have a walk along romantic purple long alleys in the historic part of the park. On the guided tour you will be aware of the history of lilac introduction in Ukraine and the selection history of this plant group, also will be a short story about the lilac cultivation specificities in our climate and more.
During the guided tour you may participate in photoshoots and the “What do you know about Lilac?” quiz, and to check out the results of the “Lilac in your city” photo contest as well.
