El séptimo “Día de la fascinación por las plantas” internacional se va a lanzar por científicos de plantas de todo el mundo bajo el paraguas de la Organización Europea de Ciencias de las Plantas (EPSO).
El objetivo de esta actividad es lograr que la mayor cantidad posible de personas en todo el mundo se sientan fascinadas por las plantas y entusiasmadas con la importancia de la ciencia de las plantas para la agricultura y la producción sostenible de alimentos nutritivos, así como para la horticultura, la silvicultura y la producción de alimentos a base de plantas, productos no alimentarios como el papel, la madera, productos químicos, la energía y los productos farmacéuticos. El papel de las plantas en la conservación del medio ambiente también es un mensaje clave.
This outreach project developed by CRAG and funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) aims to showcase some of the research lines of our scientists through their own spectacular images. The process of taking images is fundamental in the world of science, to better understand processes, structures, reactions, etc. Some of these images, generated during the research process, are true art pieces. That’s why we created this Postcards CRAG initiative, because we believe it’s a good way to disseminate the knowledge and projects generated within our center, while showcasing the beauty of these investigations. Additionally, we wanted to use a more informal tone than we’re used to in the scientific world because, between you and me, scientists also make omelettes, read tales, and enjoy going to the movies.
A reminder that science and art are not separate disciplines, but they nourish, inspire, and complement each other perfectly.
The project “Disseminating Science through Theatre. Barbara McClintock, Life and Science” is a project granted by the FECYT (FCT-22-17955) to CRAG, IRTA and the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático (ESAD) of Córdoba, directed by Ana Montserrat Martín-Hernández, IRTA researcher at CRAG. Its main objective is to use the performing arts for dissemination and non-formal education, with the aim of promoting knowledge and interest in science and encouraging scientific careers, with a particular focus on young women.
The project consists of the creation of a play based on the life of the scientist Barbara McClintock, as well as the production of information material to create an educational kit that will be distributed to schools, community centres, amateur theatre groups, etc., so that the play can be performed and reach a wider audience.
Un hanami es una fiesta que se celebra tradicionalmente en Japón para contemplar las flores del cerezo. A la gente del haiku en Albacete nos fascinan las plantas y por ello hemos organizado este hanami para contemplar las plantas y las flores de nuestro Jardín Botánico y escribir haikus inspirados en ellas.
