The eighth international “Fascination of Plants Day” around 18 May 2026 will be launched by plant scientists across the world under the umbrella of the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO).

The goal of this activity is to get as many people as possible around the world fascinated by plants and enthused about the importance of plant science for agriculture and sustainable production of nutritious food, as well as for horticulture, forestry and the production of plant-based non-food products such as paper, timber, chemicals, energy and pharmaceuticals. The role of plants in environmental conservation is also a key message.

Everybody is welcome to join this initiative!

In honor of Astragalus Day, walks along the Astragalus Trail are organized in April and May for students from local schools, providing them the chance to see the plant in bloom. The main celebration takes place in the City Park in Bogdanci in May or June. This year, Astragalus Day will be celebrated on June 6th.

The event begins with a children’s art workshop, where young participants can express their creativity by drawing themes related to plants and nature. Afterwards, there is a competition segment in which teams of primary school students compete by arranging puzzles that feature the Astragalus plant.

Students from higher grades in primary and secondary schools participate in quizzes focused on wild plants and nature conservation, competing in various categories. The top teams in each category are awarded symbolic prizes.

In addition to these activities, the event includes entertainment, showcasing student creations and various activities.
