The seventh international “Fascination of Plants Day” 2024 (FoPD 2024) will be launched by plant scientists across the world under the umbrella of the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO).
The goal of this activity is to get as many people as possible around the world fascinated by plants and enthused about the importance of plant science for agriculture and sustainable production of nutritious food, as well as for horticulture, forestry and the production of plant-based non-food products such as paper, timber, chemicals, energy and pharmaceuticals. The role of plants in environmental conservation is also a key message.
The Division for Protected Areas and Park Management of the Nature Conservation Agency of Iceland is organising a special event to celebrate the Day of the Wild Flowers on 18 June.
This year’s celebration will take place as an educational walk, offering participants the opportunity to explore Iceland’s unique natural environment while learning more about native wild flowers, their ecological importance, and the role they play in supporting biodiversity.
During the guided walk, experts will share insights into local flora, habitat conservation, and the importance of protecting natural landscapes for future generations. The event is open to nature enthusiasts, families, and anyone interested in discovering the beauty and diversity of Icelandic wild flowers.
Join us in celebrating nature and raising awareness of the importance of conserving our rich botanical heritage.
