The Bosnia and Herzegovina Fascination of Plants Day 2026 Country Event, hosted by the Faculty of Science, University of Sarajevo, brings together schools, teachers, university researchers, students, and plant enthusiasts to celebrate the importance of plants in our lives, food systems, climate resilience, and sustainable future.

This year’s national event is organised in synergy with the COST Action CA24156 PrimSeedPower – Seed Priming Solutions: Boosting Crop Resilience for a Sustainable Future.

A central activity of the event is a school-based experimental challenge, where primary and secondary school students will design and perform plant experiments on species of their choice. Using creative scientific approaches, students will collect growth and germination data, analyse plant responses, and present their findings through innovative posters, graphics, photographs, and visual storytelling formats.

The final presentation event will take place on 18 May 2026 at the University of Sarajevo, where participating schools will showcase their results, exchange ideas, and explore how different experimental designs lead to diverse plant responses.

The event aims to:

  • inspire curiosity about plant science among young learners
  • promote hands-on STEM education through real experiments
  • connect schools with researchers and the academic community
  • raise awareness of plant resilience, seed biology, and climate adaptation
  • strengthen international visibility of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the global Fascination of Plants Day movement

By linking education, creativity, and real scientific methodology, this country event highlights how plants can inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.
