The Faculty of science at the Saint-Joseph University is trying to create a new tradition that will make students notice the high diversity of plant species and their use in one of the most vital needs in every day’s life, which is “KNOW YOUR FOOD”.
Lebanon is known for its wide variety of food. Each type is prepared differently according to the regions and traditions. This event will shed light on this diversity with an unconditional way.
“Know your food” consists of letting students prepare their favorite kind of salad while analyzing each ingredient separately. The analysis will mainly cover the name of the plant species, to which family does it belong ,which part of the plant is edible , their wild relatives and when and where were they domesticated
Therefore, not only will the student enjoy their time preparing their favorite food, they will also be educated on what they are eating, how diversified one meal can be and how close we are to the plant world.
This event will take place at the faculty on June 3rd 2019 focusing on students from bachelor 1 in biochemistry. All media will be uploaded on the website so stay tuned!!!
