El Día de la Fascinación por las Plantas (FoPD) regresa en su octava edición en 2026, una celebración global impulsada por EPSO que reúne a personas de todo el mundo alrededor del asombroso mundo de las plantas.
En Colombia, país megadiverso, esta es una invitación a descubrir y celebrar la extraordinaria diversidad de las plantas y su importancia en la alimentación, la salud, la sostenibilidad y la vida cotidiana.
Instituciones, colectivos, empresas y comunidades se suman con actividades abiertas al público que conectan a las personas con las plantas desde la observación, el conocimiento y la creatividad.

La meta de esta actividad es juntar la mayor cantidad de personas fascinadas y entusiasmadas por la importancia de la ciencia de las plantas para la agricultura y producción sustentable de alimento nutritivo, así como por la horticultura, forestación y fabricación, en base a plantas, de productos no alimenticios como papel, energía, madera y fármacos. El rol de las plantas en la conservación del medio ambiente es también uno de los puntos clave.

As part of the Information Criteria seminar at Cumbres School, 7th-grade students visiting Universidad EAFIT will engage in an immersive introduction to the world of plants. Through a plant diversity and plant science demonstration led by undergraduate and graduate biology students, participants will explore laboratories, botany and paleobotany collections, and use microscopes and stereoscopes to observe plant structures.
Students will learn about plant diversity while interacting with young plant scientists, gaining insight into what they do, what it is like to study biology, and what inspires their fascination with plants.
This activity is a collaboration between the Botany Group at EAFIT, the Continuing Education program at EAFIT, and Cumbres School Medellín.
The III Unicauca Biotransforma is a special event where the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Cauca joins the global celebration of Fascination of Plants Day (FoPD).
