El octavo “Día de la Fascinación por las Plantas” internacional 2026 (FoPD 2026) se lanza para que todos los científicos de plantas participen bajo el paraguas de la European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO).
El objetivo de esta actividad es lograr que la mayor cantidad posible de personas en todo el mundo se sientan fascinadas por las plantas y entusiasmadas con la importancia de la ciencia de las plantas para la agricultura y la producción sostenible de alimentos nutritivos, así como por la horticultura, la silvicultura y la producción de alimentos a base de plantas, productos no alimentarios como el papel, la madera, los productos químicos, la energía y los productos farmacéuticos. El papel de las plantas en la conservación del medio ambiente también es un mensaje clave.

We are looking for 15 enthusiasts to take on the challenge of growing “The Most Beautiful Flower of Rapa Nui.” Don’t let the name fool you—we are looking for beauty in all its forms! Whether it’s a plant with vibrant petals, a lush fern, or a perfect succulent, what matters is the care you give it.
- April – The Start: We will provide an official pot to each of the 15 registered participants. You’ll have a whole month to choose your plant and make it shine.
- May – The Exhibition: The 15 plants will return to Katipare for a community showcase, for 3 days.
A “Secret Identity” Vote
To keep the competition fair and focused entirely on the plant:
- Pots will be identified by number only.
- The grower will remain anonymous until the final count.
- Visitors are the judge: Every visitor will have one single vote to pick their favorite.
The plant that steals the most hearts will be the winner. Good luck!
Buscamos a 15 entusiastas que acepten el reto de cultivar “La Flor más Bella de Rapa Nui”.
- Abril – El Comienzo: Entregaremos un macetero oficial a cada uno de los 15 inscritos. Tendrás todo un mes para elegir tu ejemplar y hacerlo brillar.
- Mayo – La Exhibición: Las 15 plantas regresarán a Katipare para una muestra colectiva y concursar por tres días.
Para que la competencia sea justa y nos enfoquemos solo en el ejemplar:
- Las macetas estarán identificadas solo con un número.
- El cultivador será anónimo hasta el recuento final.
- Tú eres el jurado: Cada visitante tendrá un solo voto para elegir su favorita.

This outreach activity, entitled The Invisible Life of Plants, aims to introduce school students to the hidden world of plants through interactive and hands-on activities. Students will explore how plants interact with microorganisms in the rhizosphere, understand the role of antioxidants in plant health, and participate in a simple DNA extraction activity using strawberry fruit. The activity seeks to promote curiosity, scientific thinking, and appreciation for plant science among children.
